Yamaha Custom Absolute Nouveau

Yamaha drums have been around for just over 36 years now, and Yamaha have been using the Air Seal System in the making of their shells from the very start. And what is now common practice among other drum makers-the use of diagonally cut plies-Yamaha have been doing it for 30 years. Making quality drums involves many processes that require a high level of skill. It goes without saying, that to make great shells demands a great amount of experience. The shell must be perfect and a perfect shell starts with diagonal cuts made with great precision, along with a great deal of experience in aligning the cut ends of these plies to a form a shell. Don't forget the adhesives. Different drum types require different adhesive mixtures. In countries that have four seasons like Australia and Japan, there is no 'one-does-it-all' adhesive. So Yamaha vary their mixtures according to the changes in temperature and humidity levels. Yamaha even go as far as to apply the adhesives at predetermined hours of the day because it is at those times that Yamaha can obtain maximum adhesion.

When using high quality woods to make drums, Yamaha work hard at being environmentally friendly, and not waste any of the woods so as you can see, the highly skilled craftsman is an essential part in making the perfect drum shell.

100% Handcrafted shell construction. 7-ply, 7mm Bass drums. 6-ply, 6mm Toms and Snares (same as the Birch & Beech Nouveau).

These new Absolutes have a new quick-release style lug design, with a new look casing. This design is like nothing seen before in drumming. The lug post is fixed to the nodal point of the shell and the lug casing itself, snaps onto the post. This allows the shell to vibrate freely with nylon inserts preventing the lugs from moving during use.

Yamaha have added ALUMINIUM Die-Cast hoops to all toms and snares. Aluminium doesn't weigh as much as Zinc (used in other company's Die-Cast hoops). Therefore reducing sound loss and making tuning easier.

Still using the Y.E.S.S. style tom mounts and Yamaha's Air Seal shell construction. Yamaha Absolute Nouveau will open a new page in drumming history.
